Islamic Studies Skills/Knowledge Lists – Duaas

1. Knows what a duaa is

2. Knows that we only ask (as in duaas) of Allah

3. Knows what to say at the beginning of duaas

4. Knows that you have to be certain and patient when making duaas

5. Knows to repeat duaas (not to ask just once)

6. Knows an appropriate voice to make duaas in (not loud or soft)

7. Knows that it is preferable to have wudhu when making duaas

8. Knows that it is preferable to face the Kabah/qiblah when making duaas

9. Knows to ask of Allah by His Names, especially a Name that fits a particular need

10. Knows manner of raising hands in duaa

11. Knows that we should be mindful of staying away from the haram in order to help our duaas get answered

12. Knows that we should ask of Allah by mentioning good deeds that we have done (duaa is elevated by good deeds); knows the story of the three men stuck in the cave

13. Knows that we should ask Allah in times of ease, not just in times of need

14. Knows the best times for duaa:

· In middle of night

· Between adhaan and iqama

· Fridays after asr

· When it is raining (also knows the duaa for rain)

· When fasting

· While making sujood

· On Laylatul Qadr

15. Knows that it is good to make duaas for others and what the angels say when this is done

16. Knows not to make duaas against self or someone else

17. Knows that duaas are answered for the traveler, parent, and faster

18. Has memorized authentic duaas of the prophet, salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam; among them:

· Duaa for waking up

· Duaa for getting dressed

· Duaa for wearing new clothes

· Duaa for going into bathroom

· Duaa for stepping out of bathroom

· Duaa after eating

· Duaa for leaving house

· Duaa for entering house

· Duaa for traveling

· Duaa when it rains

· Duaa after it rains

· During a wind storm

· Duaa to ask for clear skies

· Duaas after adhaan

· Duaa for going to sleep

· Duaa for drinking milk

· Duaa for host

· Duaa for breaking fast

· Duaa for undressing (bismillah)

· Duaa after making wudhu

· Duaa for going to the mosque

· Duaa for entering the mosque

· Duaa for leaving the mosque

· Duaas after the prayers

· Duaas for anxiety and sorrow

· Duaas for morning and evening

· Duaa for sick person

· Duaa when afflicted w ith a calamity

· Duaa as a condolence

· Duaa when hearing thunder

· Duaa upon sighting the crescent moon

· Duaa when sneezing

· When angry

· When seeing someone in trial or tribulation

· When sitting at a gathering/getting up

· When entering the market

· When delighted or amazed

· Duaa when seeking forgiveness

· When feeling pain in the body

· When you have insulted someone

    Alhamdullilah, Our mighty Creator always knows what is best for all of us. In the good and even in the bad. You, however were chosen to do exactly as you are doing mashallah. A wonderful job in providing resources exactly as you are doing, in order it be used constructively mashallah.
