(Please note: on page 4 of the lesson, there is a picture of Arabic text in the design. It was brought to my attention that the text is a shia saying, so please mark this out. I will replace the image as soon as I can, in sha Allah.)
Category Archives: 2. Corrections!
When going over the 2008 Dhul Hijjah lapbook with my kids today, I noticed a typo that I had not caught in previous years.
The word “Tahmeed” was incorrectly typed as “Tamheed” in a few places.
Tahmeed is the saying of “alhamdulillah.” (For those new to Arabic, I underlined the root letters in both words so that the correlation can be seen.) The same root letters are found in each word haa-meem-daal, both come from the root for “to praise—haa-mi-da)
I apologize for the error and I will try to amend it on an updated copy of the kit this season, insha Allah.
Got two words mixed up in the Arabic “Starts with…” post…..
I have made corrections to the original post: https://talibiddeenjr.wordpress.com/2009/02/15/starts-within-arabic/
th’ib (wolf) should have been under the dhaal/thaal (Side note: Sorry, sometimes transliterate the letter like dhaal, or thaal). Have to be mindful of that)
Tha’baan (snake) should have been under thaa.
Another good illustration of how transliteration is not the best to use. I had written them down both with “th” on my notepad.
Also, I use ” ‘ ” generally for ein, but then I noticed I also use it for hamzah in the middle and end, so of course look up the words first before you use them, just to verify.
If I have made any other mistakes, please let me know. Sorry for any inconvenience.
It was recently brought to my attention that a hadith in the Eating Etiquette Guide from TJ has a typo.
On Page 5, it incorrectly reads:
Narrated By Umayyah Ibn Makhshi:
Umayyah was sitting and a man was eating. He did not mention Allah’s name until there
remained the last morsel. When he raised it to his mouth, he said: In the name of Allah at
the beginning and at the end of it. The Prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam) kept eating
along with him, but when he mentioned Allah’s name, he vomited what was in his belly.
The correct hadith should be:
Narrated Umayyah ibn Makhshi:
Umayyah was sitting and a man was eating. He did not mention Allah’s name until there remained the last morsel. When he raised it to his mouth, he said: In the name of Allah at the beginning and at the end of it. The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) laughed and said: The devil kept eating along with him, but when he mentioned Allah’s name, he vomited what was in his belly.
(The incorrect version reads as if the Prophet (salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam vomited instead of shaytan!).
The hadith is correctly written on page 4, insha Allah.
I truly apologize for this mistake and ask Allah to forgive me. I will make a note of this on the page it appears, insha Allah and will work to correct the error as soon as I can.
